So, You Want to be the Greatest?

Most of us want our lives to matter, but the way we pursue greatness often leads us in the wrong direction. In Mark 9, Jesus told His disciples that true greatness means being last of all and servant of all. The desire to be great is not the problem. The problem is when pride, jealousy, and self-promotion drive that desire. True greatness in God's kingdom is rooted in love, marked by humility, and expressed through a servant's heart. It means being content with the assignment God has given you rather than competing for the one He gave someone else. When we serve others with the right motive, we make God visible to the world around us. The people closest to the front in eternity may not be the ones who were most visible on earth.
