We live in a time of real chaos. A quick glance at the news or social media makes that clear. But we serve a God who brings order into chaos, and He uses ordinary people to do it. The question is not whether God is willing to move. The question is whether we are willing to do what it takes to see Him move.

Every great move of God in history has been preceded by something specific. As Daniel Norris writes in Trail of Fire, "Every revival is preceded by the passionate prayer of people who have firmly made up their minds that revival is the only solution."

It is not a political party or a policy change that will transform our nation. It is the cross. It is people who are fully surrendered to God, authentically burning for Him, and willing to be used by Him wherever they are.

In Exodus chapter 2, we find a powerful picture of what it looks like when people reach their breaking point:

"During those many days the king of Egypt died, and the people of Israel groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. Their cry for rescue from slavery came up to God. And God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. God saw the people of Israel, and God knew." - Exodus 2:23-25 English Standard Version (ESV)

Israel had been in bondage for over 400 years. But when they finally cried out, God responded. He remembered His covenant. He sent a deliverer.

God is not ignoring what is happening in our nation. He is listening. But He is looking for people who are desperate enough to cry out to Him rather than simply complain about what they see.

There are two kinds of people in this story. There are those who cry out, and there is the deliverer God has prepared. Moses was hidden in the wilderness, seemingly disqualified. He was a murderer who had fled. But God had been preparing Him all along.

The deliverer was already there. He was just waiting for the cry to go up.
Maybe the person God wants to use is already in your community, your church, or your family. But perhaps the cry has not gone up yet. Your desperation, your prayer, your groaning before God could be the very thing that releases what He has already prepared.

As Charles Spurgeon said, "Whenever God determines to do a great work, He first sets His people to pray."

"As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven." - Nehemiah 1:4 English Standard Version (ESV)

Prayer is not just a spiritual discipline. It is the power and authority to get the ear of God. It is the most important thing we can do, which is exactly why it is the most attacked. The enemy does not want you in a serious prayer life because he knows what happens when you are.

Andrew Murray, who witnessed revival in South Africa in 1860, came to understand that prayer is not merely a means of maintaining your Christian life. It is the highest part of the work entrusted to us. It is the root and strength of everything else.

If we want God to move, we must increase in prayer. Not just as a church, but personally, in our homes, in our daily lives.

A river cuts through rock not because of its power, but because of its persistence. Desperation will keep you praying and seeking even when you do not see results on your timeline.

Too often, we feel a burden, begin to pray, and then step back when nothing seems to happen quickly. We tell ourselves it must not be God's timing. But God is looking for people who will not quit. People who will keep crying out until heaven responds.

Father Nash, one of the men Charles Finney credited for His entire ministry, was virtually unknown. He would go into a city two or three weeks before Finney arrived and pray and intercede for the lost souls there. Nobody knew his name. He did not care. He just wanted God to move.

Finney once wrote, "The very condition on which a soul is to be saved from hell may be the fervency and importunity of your prayer for that individual."

Humility means releasing the need to be recognized and simply saying, "God, use me however You want."

"Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully." - Psalm 24:3-4 English Standard Version (ESV)

Isaiah 59:1-2 makes it plain:

"Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear." - Isaiah 59:1-2 English Standard Version (ESV)

If we want God to hear our cry, we must be living consecrated lives. We cannot preach one thing and live the opposite. God is not going to share His glory with unrepentant sin. He is calling His church back to purity, holiness, and righteousness, not as a burden, but as a gift made possible through the cross.

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." - 2 Timothy 2:15 English Standard Version (ESV)

False teaching does not arrive overnight. It slides in slowly, mixing truth with error, gaining trust before drifting further from Scripture. The only way to recognize it is to know the truth deeply and personally.

When we are not in the Word and not spending time with God, we become vulnerable to anything that feels emotionally moving. The Word of God is not meant to make the flesh feel good. It is meant to crucify the flesh. If a message is only making you comfortable, it is worth examining carefully.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." - Romans 1:16 English Standard Version (ESV)

How will people know if we never tell them? There is only one way to the Father. One sacrifice, one resurrection, one Holy Spirit. That is not a message to be embarrassed about. That is the greatest news in human history.

You do not need a platform or a pulpit. You carry the presence of God with you. When you spend time with Him, you bring the atmosphere with you wherever you go. Share what He has done in your life. Your testimony has power.

As Jesus said, "So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven." - Matthew 10:32 English Standard Version (ESV)

One of the reasons the church is losing ground is division. We are fighting each other while the enemy works behind the scenes. Unity is not optional. It is essential. We cannot see a national awakening while the body of Christ is fragmented and focused inward.

God is not calling us to be comfortable. He is calling us to burn. And burning is uncomfortable for the flesh. If you are not in an uncomfortable place spiritually, it may be time to get back to the fire of God.

As Leonard Ravenhill said, "We will live without revival as long as we are content to remain without it."

D.L. Moody once said, "Every great movement of God can be traced to a kneeling figure."

That kneeling figure could be you. Not a famous preacher. Not a well-known evangelist. Just an ordinary person who has had enough, who gets on their face before God and refuses to stop crying out until He moves.

This week, commit to one specific, intentional act of crying out to God. Set aside time, even just 15 to 30 minutes each day, to pray not for your own needs, but for your family, your community, and your nation. Get on your knees. Be honest with God about what you are tired of seeing. Ask Him to move, and then keep asking. Do not stop when you do not see results immediately. Be the persistent river.

As you do, examine your own life for anything that might be creating distance between you and God. Consecration is not about perfection. It is about surrender.

Ask yourself these questions this week:

• Am I truly desperate for God to move, or am I just hoping someone else will do the praying?
• Is there anything in my life that is separating me from God and keeping my prayers from reaching Him?
• When did I last share my faith with someone outside the church walls?
• Am I spending enough time in the Word to recognize truth from error?
• What would it look like for me to be the kneeling figure in my home, my workplace, or my community?

God is faithful to His covenant. He hears the cry of His people. The question is whether we are willing to be the ones who cry out.
